Bert Clauster works in a mundane electrical supply warehouse, daydreaming of grand adventures in which he becomes the dashing Bertrand Chauncey, International Something-or-Other… (He has trouble pinpointing an appropriate title). His harmless fantasy-world takes a dramatic turn into reality after meeting a stray brown dog who he dubs Hannibal, after unearthing a finger-bone by the railroad tracks (think Silence of the Lambs). He quickly learns that Hannibal is more partner than pet.
Their adventures are joined by Claudia Auckland, the lovely secretary from work, and her gender bending male Irish setter named Cecelia, who falls for Hannibal as much as Bert falls for Claudia. When she joins the adventure, Claudia assumes the dashing character of Chessie Berretta, and together with an enormous roughneck named Mack, they plot a way to free Mack from the criminal activities they have all become mired in.
Bert finds he is on a slippery slope once he follows his alter-ego’s lead and begins to consult with Hannibal whose subtle advice is all that keeps him out of the morgue. Claudia proves to be Bertrand’s match with her alter-ego Chessie Berretta and shocks her partners with her bravado in the heat of battle.
For those of us who occasionally indulge in dreams of dashing adventures, fasten your seat belt and take a wild ride along with the Hauzer’s Brat Haus team.

So, I don't expect to get my entire $1.99 back, but if somebody could return about a dollar I could give it a couple more stars. Kindle only gets $1.00 for The Great Gatsby. Are they saying Hauzer's is twice as good? Sure, it's funnier than Gatsby, I'll give it that. And certainly if F. Scott Fitzgerald had stuck to beer like Rick Poore then he might have lived past the age of 44, so there's a lesson here for all of us. But $1.99 is a lot of money.Product details

Great read! Lots of plot twists and quirky fun
Fun read with plenty of twists, turns, and suspense. You'll get a good chuckle reading this one. Had a hard time putting it down.
This story is original and it's a crack up too. LOVED IT! I enjoyed each meeting of the alter-egos named Bertrand and Chessie and their fun-loving characters amid dangers, death threats and scheming. Lots of romance and intrigue (dogs included) make this a page-turner that's hard to put down. Even Mack is a big, goof thug turned lovable marshmallow with a woman in his life.
A nice escape from the political arena. Looking forward to another novel by this author.
Haven't had that much fun reading a novel since the last Carl Hiaasen book. Highly recommended.
What a delightfully funny book. It kept my attention with the story line while entertaining me with the author's unique humor. I will look for more books by him.
Hauzer's Brat Haus is an amusing romp of a story that features the cutest crime-solving couple since Maddie Hayes and David Addison!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the way the character developed through the story. I could not put it down and frequently found myself reading it in the middle of the night. Can’t wait for the next adventure!
